USTA Competition Training Camp

The Evansville Tennis Center will be host to the first cross district Competition Training Camp. Players attending will receive a player gift, a comprehensive player journal and complimentary dinner Saturday evening. Players registering for both days will also receive an evaluation from the coaching staff. Parents are welcome to attend the parent meeting to discuss player development, rankings and ratings and tournament scheduling.
This camp is designed for the tournament player, who has an established ranking and continues to play tournaments year round. 14 and Under and 12 and Under players from the Mid-South Illinois and players in the southern part of Central Indiana District will have the opportunity to practice and train with each other at the camp. Our certified coaches will lead the camp. The coaching staff consists of USPTA Award Winners, USTA Midwest Section Committee members, former NCAA Coaches, and has helped produce some of the best players in the area helping more than 50 players reach the college level. Coaches from multiple clubs and each district will be in attendance.

Player Evaluations
Coaches will be assigned to evaluate players over the course of two days. This evaluation will cover the three areas of “Feet”, “Eyes and Mind”, and “Hands”.
Competition
Players will participate in competitive live ball drills and set play. Coaches will group players based on their Universal Tennis Rating to ensure a competitive atmosphere.
Parent Education
A parent meeting will be held on Sunday to discuss the coaches, players and parents roles in developing a competitive junior player. Coaches will also discuss tournament selection, rankings, and ratings.
Goal Setting / Mental Toughness
Coaches and players will spend time discussing different goal types and their benefits. Players will also spend time engaging in mental toughness exercises which players can use during practices and matches.
5:1 Ratio
Coaches and players will have more interaction with each other with a 5 to 1 ratio of players to coaches. Players will have more one on one time with coaches. Coaches will be able to provide each player with more direct feedback. Maintaining a productive ratio only helps player development.
