Summer Programs

     Summer is here and so are our summer camps and classes. Evansville Tennis Centers offers several classes for the beginner, intermediate and advanced junior at both of our facilities- Wesselman Park and Evansville Tennis Center. Classes for the intermediate and advanced juniors are typically held outdoors to prepare the kids for a long summer of tournament play, while most of our beginner classes are held indoors in the afternoon.

     Come join our summer programs and see first hand the improvements your child will make to their game as they continue to develop a love for the game of tennis. Our experienced staff will not only instruct and continue to work with the players, but they will also prepare them for the next level and class.

INDOOR CAMPS:

Quickstart Tennis and Sports Camp-This program is an excellent program for beginner to intermediate juniors ages 5-14 years old, who want to learn the game of tennis and pickleball. The court size, equipment and balls will be based on skill level to allow the child to develop more quickly.

Quickstart Tennis– This 10 and Under program is an excellent program for the beginner or advanced beginner juniors, ages 5-10 years old, who want to learn the game of tennis. The court size, equipment and slow moving balls have been modified to allow the child to develop more quickly. This is a USTA tennis program held indoors at Evansville Tennis Center.

Little Stars (Red Ball) – Classes are held Thursday 4:00 – 5:00pm and Saturday 10:30-11:30am. The class will emphasize fun, basic fundamentals with an focus on ball striking and tracking skills.

Bright Stars (Orange Ball) – Classes are held Thursday 5:00 – 6:00pm and Saturday 11:30 – 12:30pm. Class will be structured to allow proper progressions of the basic foundations, with an emphasis on fun, peer involvement and competition.

Middle School – For the 12 and older child who may be competing on their middle school team, but has had little formal instruction. This class will teach fundamental stroke production and footwork. Competitive games and drills are used to keep the class fun. We encourage teammates and teams to sign up together as they continue to build a great team atmosphere for many years to come.

This class meets Monday 4:00 – 5:30pm and Saturday 12:30 – 2:00pm at the Evansville Tennis Center.

Outdoor Camps:

Junior Stars –  This class is for the intermediate player 8-10 years of age. Players will continue to learn key technical skills and fundamentals. They will also work on baseline rallying, serve and return, volleys and overheads. Players will learn to be reactive to opponents’ shots and keep score. Players are encouraged to start playing USTA Youth Progression Tournaments.

Class meets Monday through Thursday 8:00 – 11:00am. The classes will be broken into two segments. A instructional drill portion and a point play portion with coaches supervising and instructing while players compete.

Champs – This class primarily uses a low compression Green Ball. This class will develop appropriate skills for the young player. Players will work on their consistency, contact points, and over all stroke production. Competitive points will be included in the class. Players are typically playing USTA Youth Progression Tournaments.

Class meets Monday through Thursday 8:00 – 11:00am. Players will begin to learn how to be more accountable and independent of their own equipment. Proper dynamic warm-ups will be used daily. The classes will be broken into two segments. A instructional drill portion and a point play portion with coaches supervising and instructing while players compete.

Advanced Competition (High School / Junior High) – This class is designed for the High School or standout Middle School player who wants to keep improving during the off-season. This class will help players develop into a competitive varsity player, sectional champions and beyond. Players will focus on stroke production, proper technique, use of spin, and match play strategies.

The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday 8:00 – 11:00am. We encourage players to join their teammates and friends. We offer school discounts for this program. Call (812)401-6060 for details.

Outdoor High Performance:

Our High Performance camps will bring a players’ fiercest competitor out. Our players have gone on to compete and win state titles, earn college scholarships, and play international tournaments. Players typically have an extensive tournament schedule that include tournaments out of state. Oour players compete in the biggest district tournament of the year to earn an endorsed spot to compete against the best players in the Midwest. Last year over 60% of our players were endorsed.

Our High Performance classes will focus on an array of skills including, metal toughness, on and off court conditioning, leadership, sportsmanship, technique among others.

 

Super Champs – This tournament group is for juniors working toward completing USTA Advancement Requirements or are comfortable with USTA tournament play. Class emphasis is on competitive situations and stroke development. Competitive drills and games are utilized to motivate personal drive and development. This group has a strong focus on proper stroke and movement foundations.

The class meets Monday through Thursday 10:00 – 12:00pm, and 1:00 – 3:00pm. Player are encouraged to bring a snack or lunch in between times. Players will drill and play points daily, followed by an afternoon of match play.

Get Tough – Players have an extensive District / Sectional / National Tournament Schedule with an emphasis on elevated tournaments; or are college bound seniors. Players are in pursuit of Sectional and National rankings with goals of college tennis and beyond. Emphasis is on on-court stroke refinement, off court conditioning, goal setting, and mental and emotional skill development. Players will be expected to participate in cooperative live ball drills and competitive point play.

This class meets Monday through Thursday 10:00 – 12:30pm and 1:30 – 3:30pm. Each day players will work together and compete against eachother to improve their game. On and off court conditioning is a part of this class. Players attending all four days will have a certified trainer working with them twice a week. Players are highly encouraged to play the CITA Qualifier, among other tournaments throughout the year.
